  • 1. Find your new best friend.
Review our available pets and take your time. We do not do same day adoptions nor first come first serve so want to make sure we have the best fit for both your family and your new furry friend. If you have any specifics you would like to know shoot us a message and we will help you narrow down the options to find the perfect match for you!
  • 2. Complete Application
Review our adoption contract which clearly lines out our rules and guidelines for adoption. If you agree to the terms. Complete our paper application or online application and submit to arfms@comcast.net. You will be required to complete all paperwork even if you do not have a printer prior to adoption.
  • 3. Application Review
Our Staff's number one priority is the daily care of the animals under our roof so please be patient while we review your application. It could take up to one week depending on the availabilty to complete background screening and reference checks. We do require a vet reference along with a home check and personal references.
  • 4. Meet your Match
This can also be step one but application process will move faster with a pre-approved review prior to meeting. We prefer appointments to schedule meet and greets because some of our animals are in foster homes and stopping by the shelter does not neccessarily mean your future best friend is in that day. Everyone in the home must be present for meet and greet as it is important all personalities are a match and devoted to the successful completion of the adoption process. If you have another dog we would prefer they meet on neutral grounds so this also helps the process move smoothely and another reason we like to schedule ahead.
  • 5. Pick up your pet! Congratulations!
We will schedule a time to ensure the vetting and microchip are complete for you to pick up your best friend. If you've made it this far you are too busy loving on your new best friend to read any of this and probably texting us now. Enjoy your new pet and remember we commit to the animals for life so please keep us updated on any needs, questions, or issues that arise so we can help ensure they are doing well and enjoying their new life!
